Cervical Cancer Symptoms

Early stage cervical cancer is usually asymptomatic (does not have symptoms). This is why Pap smears are extremely important to screening for cervical cancer, particularly if you have ever had an abnormal Pap smear. Common symptoms associated with more advanced stages are:

• Persistent vaginal discharge
• Bloody vaginal discharge
• Bleeding after sexual intercourse
• Abnormal bleeding: especially after menopause or between periods
• Increased urinary frequency and blood-tinged urine
• Lower abdominal pain that persists
• Pain that radiates down the leg
• Swollen leg (seen in more advanced cases)
